Building safety capability in people, teams, and organizations

LJ Risk Management & Training Solutions is an independent consulting and training firm dedicated to building safety capability in the people who do the work — not in a specialist team apart from them.

We are not a security company. We are a safety and readiness consultancy, focused on awareness, decision-making, and prevention. Our clients are everyday people and organizations who want to build lasting safety culture without adopting an enforcement mindset.

We don't create security professionals. We create safety-capable people.

That distinction shapes everything: the language we use, the posture we teach, and the outcome we measure. Capability, not compliance.

How We Are Different

Three commitments that hold across every engagement

Human-centered

Built for real people in real environments — receptionists, support workers, teachers, retail staff, office teams. Not tactical professionals, and never asked to behave like them.

Preventative

Focused on identifying and reducing risk before it escalates into an incident. The earliest intervention is always the calmest, the cheapest, and the safest.

Culture-driven

We don't just train — we build lasting systems, habits, and safety culture that outlast any single session or staff cohort.

The Gap

What usually goes wrong

  • Most organizations have policies — but not practice.
  • Most training is compliance-driven — not capability-driven.
  • Most instruction defaults to enforcement — not human behaviour.
  • Most programs are a one-time event that produces no lasting change.

Our Answer

What we do instead

We deliver consulting and training that translates safety theory into practical, usable capability — building confidence, awareness, and lasting readiness across organizations and individuals.

Every engagement is anchored to the RARS model and measured against the Everyday Readiness Standard, so progress is visible rather than assumed.

The Benchmark

The Everyday Readiness Standard

Our benchmark model defines four levels of readiness, from completely unaware through to fully capable. It gives every client a shared vocabulary for where they actually stand — and a visible target to move toward.

Unaware

No active safety mindset. Reacts only after incidents occur.

Passive

Some awareness, but unstructured and inconsistent. Subtle indicators are missed.

Aware

Baselines established, deviations noticed, RARS understood and partly applied.

Target state Capable

Full RARS proficiency. Proactive safety culture. Continuous review and improvement.

Capable is the target state for every LJ Risk engagement. All consulting, training, and advisory work is designed to move an individual or organization progressively toward — and then sustain — that level.
